Common Uses of SomaSoma is used for the relief of discomfort associated with acute, painful, musculoskeletal conditions.
How to Use Soma The usual adult dosage of Soma(carisoprodol) is one 350 mg tablet, three times daily and at bedtime. Usage in patients under age 12 is not recommended. When used for extended periods, soma may not work as well and may require different dosing. Consult your doctor if the medication stops working well.
Soma PrecautionsCarisoprodol, the active ingredient in Soma, is metabolized in the liver and excreted by the kidney; to avoid its excess accumulation, caution should be exercised in administration to patients with compromised liver or kidney function. Inform your physician if you are pregnant or nursing.
Do not take Soma with a monoamine oxidase inhibitor. Soma may cause dizziness, drowsiness, or blurred vision; use caution while driving or operating hazardous machinery. Take Soma with food to avoid stomach upset.
Soma Side EffectsSoma may cause dizziness, vertigo,ataxia, tremor, agitation, irritability, headache, depressive reactions, syncope, insomnia, fever, weakness, dizziness, angioneurotic edema, smarting eyes, hypotension, and anaphylactoid shock, tachycardia, postural hypotension, facial flushing, nausea, vomiting, hiccup, epigastric distress.
Leukopenia, in which other drugs or viral infection may have been responsible, and pancytopenia, attributed to phenylbutazone, have been reported. No serious blood dyscrasias have been reported as Soma side effects. Acute intermittent porphyria as well as allergic or idiosyncratic reactions to Soma (carisoprodol) or related compounds, such as meprobamate, mebutamate, or tybamate.
Notify your physician if you develop trouble breathing, unexplained fever, severe weakness, vision changes, swelling, or skin rash. Withdrawal symptoms may occur if therapy is suddenly stopped in apatient on long-term or high-dose therapy. In the unlikely event you have an allergic reaction to Tramadol, seek immediate medical attention. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, breathing trouble. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
If You Take Too Much SomaIf overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Soma overdose has produced stupor, coma, shock, respiratory depression, and, very rarely, death.
Additional Soma InformationDo not share soma with others. If you miss a dose, take it as soon as remembered; do not take it if it is near the time for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not double the dose to catch up. Store soma at room temperature
between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat and light. Do not store in the bathroom. Keep this and all medications out of the reach of children.
